Schedule:

Schedule flexibility required / Able to work any shift and able to work overtime.

Payrate:

$42.62/hr with guaranteed increases over the next 5 years. | $0.50 hourly shift differential.

There will be a 60-day probationary period and employees will be evaluated weekly by the supervisor for job performance and plant standards of conduct. The Company shall be the sole judge of the competency of the new employee and may discharge such employees for any reason whatsoever, at any time during the first sixty (60) days of such new employee’s employment.

The Stationary Engineer will ensure the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of boilers, air compressors, ammonia chillers, HVAC equipment, wastewater treatment equipment, and high-speed processing and packaging equipment.  This includes operating, troubleshooting, analyzing root causes, testing, and conducting all related repairs and preventative maintenance.

How you will contribute

You will:

  • Diagnose and repair production equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Provide technical assistance and resolution when facility problems are encountered.
  • Collaborate with building engineers and others to identify, define, and solve problems. × Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair measurement instruments or testing equipment.
  • Evaluate and utilize shop and layout drawings for sound troubleshooting practices.
  • Know and understand method and sequence of operations for troubleshooting and testing processing equipment.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with bakery rules and practices safety, conduct, sanitation, and good housekeeping.
  • Ensures conformance with all Safety, GMP’s, health code regulations, NEC, NFPA standards and Food Safety Policies.
  • Repair, maintain, and upgrade facility equipment as listed below.
  • Must have the tools and knowledge to disassemble and reassemble equipment that is necessary to get to building systems operation.
  • Lay out and install any air, liquid, and steam piping without drawings.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of piping circuits in assigned area, including interlocking sequences, placement and switching procedures of the distribution system.
  • Analyze and interpret information to resolve operating or design-related problems.

  • Steam Systems and their associated equipment including steam piping, steam traps, steam heaters, heat tracers, condensate systems, and chemical pumps used for steam systems.
  • Compressed Air Systems and their associated equipment including air compressor operation and maintenance (limited to filters and inspections mostly), air dryers, cooling towers, condensate collection and drains, air supply tanks, and air piping / tubing from main supply line to point of use with regulators and filters.
  • HVAC Units including roof top units, exhaust fans, fresh air intakes and filters.
  • Ammonia chillers, evaporators, glycol pumps, and water pumps.
  • Wastewater Systems including water treatment, chemical usage, sludge treatment and disposal, and DAF Equipment. 
  • Must be able to operate and maintain high- and low-pressure steam boilers and their associated equipment including chemical additives, make up water tanks, surge tanks, water pumps, process control valves and mechanical float switches.
  • Must have current City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License with 3 to 5 years’ experience in industrial applications.
  • Food industry experience preferred.
  • Liquid Delivery Systems including process water systems, potable water systems, chilled and hot water systems, minor liquid ingredient systems, pressure and flow control devices, process control valves and bulk storage tanks.
  • General Building Facility Systems including roofing drains, plumbing, drainage both sanitary and regular, fire system operation, fire system trouble response, dry riser inspections, fire sprinklers maintenance, fire control systems for tumblers, diesel and electric fire pumps, insurance and inspection audit walks, refrigerators, box and portable coolers, ice machines, refrigerant handling, RPZ maintenance, emergency generators, pipefitting, potable water systems, plumbing basics, sewer cleaning, measurement devices, and use of general shop equipment, sump pumps.
  • Natural Gas Systems and equipment including control valves, Maxon gas valves, piping systems repair and leak detection.
